Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2? Not Yet!

Before heading to bed, I decided I’d take a look at the latest news in the anime industry, a habit that really shouldn’t be frowned upon (and one I should definitely pick up more). What did I find on that endeavor? A nice little tidbit regarding Shingeki no Kyojin. Those of you who have a habit of reading the things I write might have taken note of the fact that I have a rather unnatural and unhealthy obsession with gory, death-filled anime. Because of that, it’s to be expected that I would be borderline fan-girling over anything Shingeki no Kyojin related. With that in mind, you can only imagine the thoughts that plagued my mind the moment I read that Season 2 has not, as of yet, been green-lit for production. Even more shocking, Hajime Isayama, the brilliant, Levi-esque mind behind Shingeki no Kyojin was a special, last minute guest for the discussion.

The logic. Where is it? I honestly don’t know. Given the popularity of the series not only in North America (we’ve all seen those adorable cosplay photos from Reika), but abroad, I can’t really say I foresee an issue with green-lighting the series for more; I think it’s more a matter of pacing. The manga is currently on-going, after all.  Let’s just hope for an update soon! (Also, I hope they can find someone as deliciously Levi-esque as Hajime to play Levi in this “planned” live action they’re mentioning.)

I can’t help but feel uneasy that they haven’t said anything about season 2 yet :(

    • Mrs Blunder

I feel much the same way. You’d think it’d have been greenlit already, given the popularity of the series.

      • Hadi Gholami

Maybe they are actually delaying the news just to torture us mentally… That’s very likely since they already shown that they have no problem destroying and crushing viewers’ feelings (ep 21 n 22) -_-

        • Mrs Blunder

          It’s possible.

  • Brody Nevayaktewa

Where should I go to keep an update on it????

    • Mrs Blunder

We typically keep an eye on most of the industry news, and we’ve been scouring for more SnK news. If you follow Anime News Network, you probably won’t miss any updates. They’re the best at what they do. So far, all the SnK related updates since this one were related to the games and how much money the manga is bringing in.

OOh ok, thank you very much

I was in Japan a few weeks ago, and I can confirm that the snk hype is not only in america. In japan there are no bookshops, anime related sotres or even just merchendise stores without attack on titan taking up at least one wall. I cant imagine that a second series wouldnt be made with that many fans , they most likly jast want to wait until more of the manga has been released and that the story is a bit clearer. at least I hope so^^

    • Mrs Blunder

I was thinking along the lines of that; it’s definitely a valid point. The SnK hype is insanely huge – in Servant x Service, the character Chihaya even has an SnK cosplay.

Should I read the manga to meet my Shingeki fixings? Or wait for the anime? I really love watching anime more than reading manga, and I definetely have more “WHOA!!!” moments watching anime as well, but dangit idk how long I can wait for another season of it. >_<

    • Mrs Blunder

Haha, I’m in the same boat. I’ve been reading the same manga for at least two months now. >.<

manga is better for depth and anime is better for beautiful animation. read the manga and then experience it all over again with the anime

  • Emelina

I’m into the whole gory/death thing myself, haha. Would it be too much trouble for you to namedrop a few others series in this genre? I would loooove to watch something similar as this awesome series.

    • Leonardo Pimplapure

i am guessing she isn’t going to share

      • Mrs Blunder

I could have sworn I did, actually. For gore, BTOOOM! has its fair share, though the manga is far more detailed. I’ve also listed quite a few in my horror lists, including Elfen Lied and Rin ~ Daughters of Mnemosyne.

    • I should be studying but no

Black Lagoon (sub is good, but the dub is flawless)

      In sub:
      Gunslinger girl
      Jormungand
Narutaru (a bit boring at first, but at the end it’s like pokemon meets elfen lied)
      Serial Experiments Lain
      Monster (i prefer the manga)
      Bokurano
Deadman wonderland(i think it’s overrated but people like it so you probably will too)

      • GasaiYuno

The dub for BL really is flawless. So many people rip on Revy’s voice, but I think it’s perfect for her kind of character. Two hands’ Japanese voice is way to calm for her IMO.

claymore closest thing to it shocked no1 said this yet.

“Not only in North America, but abroad” wtf i think the important thing is how popular it is in JAPAN, America kinda has zero say in this. They don’t really care about “how popular it is in America” it’s Japan that matters, because those are the fans buying most of the products and attending events etc. People watching it online from the USA is kiiinda irrelevant for the production of the 2nd season. Sorry, but for them it’s kinda ” Not only in Japan, but in the rest of the world as well.”
